Life 9.15.13 - 9.21.13

Although I named my blog Design, Life, & Style I feel like I have been missing out on the whole "life" part and only focusing on style. So this is my public commitment to do a better job of documenting my life and sharing with you all of the little happenings that make up my days. I love reading lifestyle blogs; it is a great way to connect with people and understand lifestyles that may be different from yours.  I feel like it helps me to see the commonalities we all have and appreciate our differences. I really hope you enjoy my weekly "life" blog posts!

Well this week was sure a busy one. Nic and I were swamped getting things together to close on our new home. You may remember this post which announced our plans to build on a lot that we purchased earlier this year. We are still planning on building in the future but in the meantime we found a deal on a pretty little house in our favorite town and we just couldn't pass it up! Nic and I tend to be EXTREMELY a little indecisive and so it is not a surprise to me at all that we'd randomly find a house and decide to take some more time to figure out what to do with our land.  So yes, we still have the lot and may or may not sell it in the near future. Who knows? We like keeping our options open :). Although I had my heart set on building and had spent countless hours pouring over home plans, buying this home just felt right and building had turned into a huge, stressful mess. It was honestly incredible who quickly everything came together to purchase this home. It was 4 weeks exactly from our first showing to when we closed. Talk about a whirlwind! We are very happy with our decision and see this as a great opportunity to get to know the area better and make an easier transition from condo living.

So here's to our new adventure! We have some renovations and design projects planned in the coming weeks so please stay tuned to see updates on our progress! We closed on 9/19 and are so happy and feel very blessed to call this home ours.

The home is 4 bedrooms 3.5 bathrooms and has a great unfinished basement with lots of daylight which will give us plenty of room to grow once we have a family. My favorite feature is the large 2-story wall of windows in the family room that lets in tons of natural light. I'll post interior photos soon and of course give you the full scoop on the big reno project!

Friday after wrapping up a busy work week the hubs and I went to a luau at the Adobe (where Nic works) office here in Lehi, UT.   It was seriously a full on luau with hula dancers and great Hawaiian food. It was almost as fun as the luau we went to on our honeymoon (post here). We loaded up on pork and chop suey before heading to the movies to see Prisoners. Let me tell you...that movie was SO intense. It seriously made me fear having children in a world so full of scary people. If you love suspense go see it... if you have anxiety issues you might want to sit this one out. Overall it was a good movie and we had a fun night with some of our closest friends.

Saturday was another bust day. Nic and I ran all over Utah County going from store to store looking at flooring, appliances, and lighting trying to get everything figured out for our renovation projects. I majored in interior design and still feel overwhelmed making these decisions! Praying for major creative vibes to start coming my way!

Saturday was also the big rivalry game between my Alma Mater Brigham Young University and that other school up north called The University of Utah. We lost (by 1 touchdown). It was so sad. But hey; at least I found a cute retro Cougar blue v-neck to wear to the game! A cute outfit can make any situation feel better, am I right ladies?

That wraps up some of this week's highlights. What was the favorite part of your week? Leave me a comment and let me know what you're up to. I'll be sure to respond!

  1. I'm so excited about your new house!! That's so fun:) When do you guys expect to move in?
Prisoners . . . worst decision of my life to see that movie! I felt like I had ran a marathon after seeing it. I was exhausted and had the worst headache. That night, after seeing it, I slept like three hours. and during those three hours I was dreaming of creepy Alex Jones!

    1. I will totally have nightmares about creepy Alex Jones! But then I started feeling really bad for him which totally contradicted my hate for him at the beginning of the movie. It was crazy!

  2. Hi Lea! Thank you so much for your awesome blog. I love reading about all the fun fashion tips and exciting things going on in your life. Congratulations again on your beautiful new home! This past weekend, I tried on my first ever wedding gown! WOW what a life changing moment! To finally see myself as a bride was an incredible feeling. My fiance and I also have our engagement party coming up this weekend. I feel like all the pieces are starting to come together and it is so nice to see. Keep up the great work! You are super inspiring!

    1. Morgan, that is absolutely amazing that you tried on dresses!!!! For me that was my favorite part of wedding planning. You can't help but feel beautiful and special in a fancy white wedding gown. I actually found THE dress in April 2011 and Nic didn't propose until December 2011!!! Then the second I had the ring I ordered it haha. I love your wedding planning updates. Please keep me posted!

      Best,

      Lea
