Metallic Shoes on a Budget

One trend that I have been loving this season is the metallic shoe. Wearing a hot pair of metallic heels is a quick way to glam up an everyday outfit. I love trying new trends but sometimes I don't want to spend a ton of money on something that may only be in style for a second. So when I spotted these metallic pumps at Target for a steal at only $29.99 I snatched them right up!

Now trust me, I am a name brand type of girl as much as anyone else but sometimes it is just not worth the investment. This is a trend that I am happy to rock on a budget. If you are looking to satisfy your craving for a metallic pump that is more high end, the Kate Spade ($328) and Stuart Weitzman ($335) designs are to die for. Are they worth 10 times the price? Let me know your opinion in a comment!

TGIF ladies! Have an amazing weekend!

My Everyday Makeup Routine Tutorial

Happy Saturday! I have had a few requests to talk about make-up and beauty so I figured I would record myself getting ready this morning and share it on the blog as a tutorial. This is my first time doing a make-up tutorial and let me tell you...it is not as easy as it looks. The video is WAY longer than I wanted because I kept rambling on about the most random things but if you have a few minutes on this lovely Saturday morning you should watch it and let me know what you think!

This tutorial is just my everyday make-up routine. Nothing glam or too detailed. This is what I do when I'm rushing to get ready for work on weekday mornings. Below is the tutorial split up into two shorter videos. I really hope you enjoy it!

If you don't have time to watch the video here is a quick recap of what I did:

1. Base: Every girl needs a great foundation that is the perfect color match. Do not be afraid to splurge on your foundation because it is one of the most important steps to great make-up application.
I use MAC "Studio Tech" foundation and it is a great full coverage foundation that still feels light on your face. With this foundation I have found that I do not need to use concealer unless I'm getting really dolled up or will be photographed

2. Eyes: I use three eye shadows. One color for the lid, one for the crease, and one as a highlight for under the brow line. In this tutorial I used MAC "Woodwinked" for the lid, MAC "Antiqued" for the crease, and MAC "All that Glitters" as a highlight. Once I apply my shadow and make sure to blend it evenly I line my eye with Maybeline "Line Stylist" eye liner and use Cover Girl "Lash Blast" mascara. I have really never found a need to spend a ton of money on liner or mascara. They all work about the same for me (but thats just my opinion).

3. Brows: I line my brows every day. It helps to accentuate your bone structure and highlight your features. I use MAC "Stud" brow liner. I absolutely swear by this product because it is easy to apply and has a natural looking finish.

4. Cheeks: I am a huge fan of blush. I love to play around with different colors. Lately I have been loving a more matte finish blush such as MAC "Fever" (as pictured above). Make sure to brush upward!

5. Lips: I finish off my look with lipstick. It really pulls your whole face together and is the perfect finishing touch. I used to hate lipstick but I just wasn't using the right lipsticks! Now I am a believer. I line my lips daily as well so that the lipstick will hold for longer. My everyday go to lipstick is MAC "Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Impressive" and my go-to liner is MAC "Half-Red". In the tutorial I used MAC "Captive" lipstick that has a satin finish.

There you have it! My everyday make-up routine. I hope you like it! Have a great weekend!

Today and tomorrow I have the joy of watching the 183rd Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You can watch and learn more here.

Nordstrom Accessories $50 or Less

arm candy: bow detail leather bracelet, "love" bangle, leather wrap (on right arm), Michael Kors watch
necklace: Robert Rose
skirt: Bobeau (I got mine from Nordstrom Rack for $25!)

Accessories can really pull an outfit together. I like to find high quality pieces that are not high in price. That is why I love how diverse Nordstrom's accessory selection is. You can find great quality on trend pieces that won't break the bank! Everything featured in this post is from Nordstrom and is $50 or less(with the exception of the t-shirt and Michael Kors watch). You can browse Nordstrom's jewelry selection here. You should really take a look.

I mean, is there a better way to start out a Monday morning than with some new jewels? I think not!

Happy Monday Everyone! I'm off to Vegas with my sisters but I will be sharing a super tasty recipe tomorrow that you will not want to miss.

2013 Spring Fashion Trend: Ankle Strap Shoes

The buyers at Nordstrom sure know what they're doing. These beautiful French Connection sandals may just be my favorite purchase of the Spring so far. I cannot wait until it is really warm enough to wear them!

Nordstrom has identified Ankle Strap Shoes to be a top shoe trend this year. Click the link to see their full inventory of sexy and stylish ankle strap shoes...specifically sandals (they are to die for).

Here is how I decided to style my French Connection "Nina" sandals. This is a look that I would wear out to lunch with the girls or going out with my Hubby.

Today's Spring fashion trend is from Glamour Magazine again. Black and white is going to be big this Spring/Summer.

Black and white is always so chic and elegant. It is a go to look for me when I am in a rush to pick out an outfit. Here is my take on the black and white (or off-white in this case) look.

2013 Spring Fashion Trend: Bright Colors

Our friends over at E! said that one of their favorite trends for Spring this year are, "Bright, Punchy Colors."

When I saw this skirt I knew it fit the bill. I am a total sucker for a great print. Add some bright colors and I'm totally sold. Don't be afraid to rock super bright colors this Spring!

2013 Spring Fashion Trend: Beaded Details

I am so excited that the weather is getting warmer and I wanted to share with you my favorite trends for Spring 2013. Glamour magazine chose Spring 2013's Most Wearable Trends and one trend that made the list was beading.

I absolutely love details on clothing that encourage a unique and high end look. Beading adds that little bit of extra interest to your outfit that will make you stand out...it's like already having jewelry built into your clothes!

When I saw J Crew's Collection Beaded Shirt I knew I absolutely had to have it. I paired it with basic skinny jeans, sandals, and a light weight leather jacket for a relaxed Spring look.

2013 Spring/Summer Fashion Trends

I'm kicking off "Fashion Week" here on Design, Life, and Style. My beautiful friend Morgan Matalucci encouraged me to do some fashion posts and at first I thought, "I can't do fashion posts...I'll look like a total idiot!" Then I decided to face my fears and give it a try. I thought it would be fun to do a "Fashion Week" on the blog for Spring/Summer in March and then Fall/Winter in September. This is one of the very few times that I will be doing outfit posts and I have to admit I'm a little nervous! I can be very critical of "fashion bloggers"so I'm a tad bit scared of how my posts will be received. I promise not to go too crazy with a million pictures of myself! I hope you enjoy my picks for the best Spring/Summer fashion trends of 2013. I would really love to hear your feedback so make sure to leave some comments. Thank you for your support as I embark on a new aspect of blogging for the week!

Here's a Sneak Peak of what I'll be posting this week...

Sunday: Beaded Details

Monday: Bold Bright Colors

Tuesday: Black and White

Wednesday: Ankle Strap Shoes
